Brookfield mayor to face alderman in April election

Brookfield - The stage is set for an April 6 election showdown between Mayor Jeff Speaker and long-time Ald. Steve Ponto to see who will be the next mayor of Brookfield.Speaker, who is seeking a third four-year term, and Ponto advanced in Tuesday's primary, beating David Marcello and Tom Schellinger.Speaker pulled in the most votes of the four with 2,116, followed by Ponto with 1,556. Schellinger, a Waukesha County Board Supervisor, was making his fourth-consecutive bid for mayor, but fell short again. Marcello is a former alderman and former Elmbrook School Board member.
