Parents know how tough it is to find stuff to fit their tykes. We're talking about pet parents, that is, and the tykes are small dogs who just don't receive the props Labradors and Great Danes get from dog product manufacturers. To the rescue comes Golly Gear. Though it started in a brick-and-mortar store in Illinois, its real operation is online at www.gollygear.com, where Hope and Fran Saidel use the expertise they've learned through ownership of Brussels Griffons, terriers and bulldogs. "We found that for miniature breeds the usual toys are too big, the clothes are too big and the collars are too big," says Hope Saidel. Hence, Golly Gear sells all things wee for wee doggies, everything from pip-squeak-sized hats to bowls. Golly Gear's specialty is the type of harness veterinarians recommend for little dogs to prevent throat injuries. Check out the hard-to-find Walkeez harness from England ($49.95) and the Rope-n-Go harness ($26.50) that has no hardware to dig into little necks. The site also features beds, books, carriers and other essentials for little woofers. One of our favorites: The Small Treat Tote ($9.55) which helps prevents all those nummy tidbits from disappearing down to the bottom of your walking coat.
